Who we are

We are a group of people who love stories and who relish the chance to hear stories told aloud. We believe in the power of stories to entertain, delight, heal, and enliven. We come together to share stories, mostly traditional folklore and myths, but also historical, personal, or family tales. Some people come to the guild and seldom tell a story; they serve us as attentive listeners. Other people come and tell stories often, using the monthly meeting as a chance to practice storytelling and further develop their craft.

We happily receive storytelling requests from the community. Recently, for example, tellers from the guild have presented stories at the One Root Festival, Georgetown Divide Art and Nature Festival, Skyridge and Rock Creek schools, and Maidu Interpretive Center.
